Get Into the River

The Jordan River Foundation co-sponsored the first annual celebration of the Jordan River called “Get Into the River” in 2003 at a single location, Germania Park in Murray. Two subsequent Get Into the River events were held in 2004 and 2005 at Millrace Park in Taylorsville and John Workman Park in South Salt Lake City, respectively.

After a hiatus, the celebration was revived in 2014 as a river-wide multiday conservation and celebration event. It has been successfully repeated in May of 2015 and 2016.

The new Get Into the River celebration brings together the public, community business partners, and local government to celebrate, protect, restore and celebrate the Jordan River corridor. On “Conservation Day”, over 1,000 volunteers help with restoration and beautification projects along the river. On “Celebration Day”, parkway visitors can enjoy a number of community festivals and activities all through the corridor. The event is hosted jointly by a collaboration of cities, counties, the Jordan River Commission, Splore and dozens of other community partners. For more information on this ever-growing annual celebration see the website at getintotheriver.org.
