Canoe Clean-Ups

Jordan River Parkway canoe cleanups

The Jordan River faces several challenges as it flows through Salt Lake Valley. A significant concern is the accumulation of trash in the waterway. This debris comes from multiple sources: stormwater runoff carrying litter through drainage systems, careless disposal by trail users, and unfortunately, deliberate dumping.

Access to the river is limited due to its steep banks and few entry points along the corridor. While one trash collection barrier exists to catch debris before the river reaches the Great Salt Lake, the majority of cleanup efforts rely on dedicated volunteer teams who remove waste using canoes to navigate the waterway.
